What we collect and why

Google Analytics 4 (GA4)

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use this site — which pages are most helpful, how people navigate between state guides, and where visitors come from. We have configured GA4 with IP anonymization enabled, so your full IP address is never stored. GA4 uses cookies to track sessions across visits. You can opt out of Google Analytics tracking by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Microsoft Clarity

We use Microsoft Clarity for session recordings and heatmaps. This helps us understand how visitors interact with individual pages — for example, where people click, how far they scroll, and whether key content is easy to find. Clarity may record mouse movements, clicks, and scrolling behavior. Personally identifiable information such as passwords is automatically masked and never recorded. Google Search Console

We use Google Search Console to monitor how this site appears in Google Search results. Search Console provides aggregate data about search queries and click-through rates; it does not set cookies on your device or collect personal data about individual visitors.

Affiliate program cookies

When you click an affiliate link on this site, the affiliate partner (for example, Amazon Associates or a curriculum publisher) may set a cookie on your browser to track that you came from this site, for the purpose of attributing a commission to us if you make a purchase. These cookies are set by the third-party partner, not by us. Their data practices are governed by their own privacy policies. You can prevent affiliate cookies by using a browser extension that blocks tracking cookies, or by browsing in private/incognito mode.

Display advertising (Google AdSense)

What we do not collect

We do not have user accounts. We do not collect email addresses (we have no newsletter or contact form at this time). We do not collect payment information. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

Because we do not operate a user account system or collect email addresses, most personal data associated with your visit is held by our third-party analytics and advertising partners.
